Race Classes

'94.5 Classic Rock' Cruiser Rally

The Cruiser Rally is back after a successful testing of the waters last year.  This class is geared (or single speed) for absolutely everyone.  This is a fun 5 lap cruise at any pace around the criterium course with 3 separate prizing categories for men, women and tandems.  Any bicycle can be used, but to be eligible for the podium you cannot have more than 8 gears, tires narrower than 1.9", clipless pedals, or a motor.  Electra Townies are available for rent at Martin's Bicycle Shop to be used for the race @MBSRentals.
 

Beginner Men/Women

If you are thinking about trying your hand at a road race this is the class for you.  The Beginner category is 10 laps (10 km) of the course and is great for recreational riders of all ages.  There will be prizing for the top 5 men and the top 5 women.
 

Sportif Men/Women

This class is for cyclists whom have raced before (either road, triathlon, mountain, etc.) or are a very strong rider.  The average podium Men's stats for last year's race were:  Average Distance - 21.45 km  Average Time - 0:39:14  Average Speed - 32.8 km/h.  The average podium Women's stats for last year's race were:  Average Distance - 22.07 km  Average Time - 0:43:51  Average Speed - 30.2 km/h.  There will be prizing for the top 5 men and the top 5 women.  There will also be 5 primes per category.  
 

Open Men/Women

This class is geared towards at the least M1 to E3 level riders average podium Men's stats for last year's race were:  Average Distance - 37.98 km  Average Time - 1:01:22  Average Speed - 37.1 km/h.  The average podium Women's stats for last year's race were:  Average Distance - 22.77 km  Average Time - 0:41:04  Average Speed - 33.3 km/h.  There will be a minimum cash purse of $750 allocated for the top 5.  There will also be 5 primes.

Online registration closes at 6:00pm EST on Saturday, July 27th. Race day registration opens at 10am. Athletes may register for an event up to 2 hours before scheduled start time.

Race License

War on the Shore is an Ontario Cycling Association (OCA) sanctioned event, and requires a valid OCA license to participate. If you do not have a license and wish to race, you can purchase a single-day permit when you register (online or on-site). Check out the OCA website for more information.

Race Number Pickup

Sunday, July 28th, 10am-3pm: Race Registration at Southampton Flag Pole.

All athletes who pre-registered must sign in 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time. ID and race license or single-day permit are required to pickup number.

Athlete Rules

Athletes are required to abide by rules outlined in Tech Guide. 

Awards & PRIZES

Medals and prizes will be awarded to top 5 finishers in Beginner, Sportif, and Intermediate classes. Pro/Am Open class receives a cash purse. Athletes must attend podium presentation or they will forfeit their winnings. Cash and prizes will be awarded during primes in each race. No less than 5 primes will be awarded per race (excluding Cruiser and Beginner classes).
